COLOMBO (News 1st); Ape Janabala Party has informed the Election Commission that the appointed Member of Parliament Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thero has been removed from the party. Chairman of the Election Commission Attorney-at-Law Nimal Punchihewa said that the General Secretary of the party had informed him of the removal in writing. The General Secretary of our Jana Bala Party Nishantha Ratnayake stated that the Secretary General of Parliament was also informed about this in writing. He said that although the Ape Janabala Party had decided to vote against the Colombo Port Economic Commission Act, it had revoked Rathana Thera's party membership in the wake of the disciplinary inquiry into the allegations, including voting in favor of the Act at his own discretion. Ratnayake said that the party politburo will decide to appoint another person to the post of National List Member of Parliament for his party in accordance with the future actions of the Election Commission.
