COLOMBO (News 1st): It has been revealed that the National Youth Services Council spent a total of over 320 million rupees on the "Smart Youth Night" music concert series organized by them.
This expenditure was uncovered during an audit conducted by the Youth Services Council.
The concert series was held at various locations, including the Maharagama National Youth Services Centre, Galle, Ampara, Kuliyapitiya, Puttalam, Dambulla, Jaffna, Mahiyanganaya, Hatton, Higurakgoda, Bandarawela, Walisara, the Colombo Race Course, and the Khettarama Stadium.
During the relevant period, the National Youth Services Council was under the supervision of the then Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Harin Fernando.
The audit report, along with all recommendations, has been forwarded to the Secretary of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs, Eranga Gunasekara, has instructed a formal investigation into this revelation.
