PCR for arrivals at new Hospinorm Laboratory Lounge at BIA from Saturday (25)

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Hospinorm Laboratory Lounge at the Bandaranaike International Airport to facilitate PCR testing for arrivals from overseas, will operate from today.

The Hospinorm Laboratory Lounge was symbolically declared open at the BIA on 23rd September 2021.

According to the Ministry of Tourism arrivals from overseas will be able to get their PCR result within three hours from this facility.

The Laboratory is expected to carry out 500 PCR tests per hours and 7000 PCR tests per day.

Fully Vaccinated travelers with a Negative PCR from the Hospinorm Laboratory will be permitted to travel within Sri Lanka without any obstruction.

Incidentally, this is the first time that a state-of-the-art laboratory was constructed next to an airport in Asia.

The Ministry of Tourism said the Airport & Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka has complete ownership of the facility, though the investments is a from a private company.

The Hospinorm Laboratory will operate as per a two-year management agreements and $ 40 US will be charged from a traveler for a PCR tests.
