Prison officials seize parcels thrown over boundary wall

COLOMBO (News 1st): Several prohibited items were thrown over the boundary wall of the women's section of the Welikada Prison, Prisons Spokesperson Chanada Ekanayake says.

The Prisons Spokesperson said that prison personnel on duty at the Women's Section of the Welikada Prison seized seven parcels, which were thrown over the boundary wall on 14 and 15 September 2021.

The seized parcels were found to contain several prohibited items, including two mobile phones, a sim cars, 35 pills, and a mobile phone battery.

The seized parcels were handed over to the Borella Police Station for further investigations.
