Delta COVID variant can spread fast, if health guidelines are not followed

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's health authority had warned that the Delta COVID-19 variant is likely to spread faster in Sri Lanka.

Deputy Director-General of Public Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath speaking to News 1st urged the people to follow health guidelines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

'We may detect new variants of the coronavirus and if we do not take the necessary measures, the situation can worsen,' he warned.

Sri Lanka has already traced 05 people infected with the Delta COVID variant.
