Shots fired in Jaffna to stop tipper truck involved in illegal sand mining

COLOMBO (News 1st); Police Special Task Force personnel had opened fire at a tipper truck transporting sand, for failing to stop when ordered to do so.

The incident had taken place on Friday (21) morning at the checkpoint in Ariyale, Jaffna.

The driver of the tipper truck had attempted to run over STF personnel manning the checkpoint and shots were fired to stop the tipper truck.

No injuries were reported and two people in the tipper truck were arrested.
