COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka will impose travel restrictions once again with effect from Friday (21) night, in a bid to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Travel Restriction Period?

Round 01

21st May 2021: Travel Restriction IMPOSED at 11:00 PM

22nd May 2021: Travel Restriction in effect

23rd May 2021: Travel Restriction in effect

24th May 2021: Travel Restriction in effect

25th May 2021: Travel Restriction LIFTED at 4:00 AM

Round 02

25th May 2021: Travel Restriction RE-IMPOSED at 11:00 PM

26th May 2021: Travel Restriction in effect

27th May 2021: Travel Restriction in effect

28th May 2021: Travel Restriction LIFTED at 4:00 AM

Who can leave their homes?

Individuals attached to essential services. They must always carry their Work ID or Letter from their workplace requesting their presence for work.

Journalists & Media Personnel can use their Media ID.

Farmers and individuals in related industries.

What business establishments will be opened?

Food Delivery Services including 'Choon Paan' 

Pharmacies

Essential Services - Water, Electricity, Fuel, Health, Military, Police, BOI Industries, Airports

SATHOSA branches will be open (NO Retail Sales)

Bakeries

How to obtain services from these open establishments?

Divisional Secretary can provide relief packages for people living in isolated areas.

Food Delivery services must only entertain orders made online & over the phone.

Will the trains operate during the period of travel restrictions?

NO

Will SLTB buses operate during the period of travel restrictions?

NO

(Limited trips for essential services)

Will Private Buses operate during the period of travel restrictions?

NO

Will the country go into a 14-day lockdown after 28th May?

NO
