COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police traced an Indian family living in secret in Gurunagar, Jaffna after entering Sri Lanka illegally.
"Police located a 61-year-old woman, her 34-year-old daughter, and two young boys aged 09 and 05 years respectively from a house in Gurunagar," said the Police Spokesperson.
They had left Rameshwaram, India on the 06th of May 2021 and reached Mannar Beach on the 07th of May 2021 and afterward were transported to Gurunagar, said DIG Ajith Rohana on Thursday (13).
Investigations revealed that Indian and Sri Lankan fishermen assisted the group to enter Sri Lanka which is a violation of the country's immigration law.
"The two women and two children were placed in quarantine at the residence in Gurunagar and they will be subject to PCR tests," said the Police Spokesperson.
