COLOMBO (News 1st); The Parliament Serjeant-at-Arms informed the Director of the Criminal Investigations Department to take necessary measures for detained MP Rishad Bathiudeen to attend parliament sessions.

A letter was addressed to the Director of the CID of the matter, on the instructions of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena. A statement from the Sri Lankan parliament noted that if detained MP Rishad Bathiudeen requests to attend parliament sessions on the 04th and 05th of May, the CID Director should take the necessary measures to ensure the MP is present in Parliament at 09:30 AM on the said date. On the 24th of April, Former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen and his brother Riyadh Bathiudeen were arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department on the charges of aiding and abetting the suicide bombers responsible for the 2019 April 21s Attacks. On the 27th of April, the Criminal Investigations Department obtained a Detention Order in terms of the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act to detain and interrogate MP Rishad Bathiudeen and his brother Riyadh Bathiudeen for a period of 90 days.
