Maharagama MC member arrested for assault

Colombo (News 1st); A Female member of the Maharagama Municipal Council was arrested on Monday (19) for assaulting a fellow female Municipal Council member.

Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said the arrest was made following a complaint made with the Maharagama Police. "The incident had taken place on the 15th of April 2021, within the premises of the Maharagama Municipal Council premises," said the Deputy Police Chief adding the 49-year-old perpetrator was arrested and produced at the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court. The victim of the assault is being treated at the Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital, he added.
