Permit of carcinogenic oil importer must be terminated; Opposition Leader

Colombo (News 1st); "Did 6.9 million people vote for the government to protect the companies that released carcinogenic coconut oil," questioned Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa on Friday (02).

"Certain personnel at customs are involved in this scam, and I state it without fear," he said adding that those at Sri Lanka Standards Institute, including top position holders, must be held responsible for it. "They were aware the oil was carcinogenic and yet released it to the companies who then released the carcinogenic coconut oil to the market," said the Opposition Leader. Ministers and MPs from the government are aware of this, alleged Premadasa adding the permit issued to the company that imposed the carcinogenic coconut oil must be terminated.
