04 COVID-19 deaths on Tuesday (09); Fatalities rise to 511

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that FOUR (04) COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country on Tuesday (Mar. 09) raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 511. The details of the deceased are as follows: 01. An 81-year-old female from Uduwil. She was diagnosed as infected with COVID-19 while receiving treatment at a Private Hospital in Colombo and transferred to IDH, where she died on 09.03.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as blood poisoning, Covid infection, and acute diabetes. 02. A 76-year-old male from Horape. He was diagnosed as infected with COVID-19 while receiving treatment at a Private Hospital in Colombo and transferred to IDH, where he died on 07.03.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as acute stroke, Covid infection, acute diabetes, and high blood pressure. 03. A 57-year-old male from Akurana. He was diagnosed as infected with COVID-19 and transferred from Kandy National Hospital to Theldeniya Base Hospital, where he died on 09.03.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and kidney failure. 04. A 62-year-old male from Ragama. He was diagnosed as infected with the COVID-19 virus while receiving treatment at Welisara Chest Hospital and transferred to Mulleriyawa Base Hospital, where he died on 08.03.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, cancer, and acute diabetes. Meanwhile, another 155 new positive cases were reported on Tuesday (Mar. 09), raising the COVID-19 caseload in the country to 86,343, the Department of Government Information said. As of Wednesday morning (Mar. 10), there are 3,079 active patients receiving treatment, while 82,753 have recovered.
