COLOMBO (News1st): The final rites of veteran journalist and senior diplomat Bandula Jayasekera were carried out at the Borella cemetery this afternoon.
Jayasekara breathed his last at the age of 60 while receiving treatment for Myelodysplastic Syndrome Blood Cancer yesterday.
His remains were laid in repose at the A. F. Raymond funeral Palour in Borella until this afternoon.
Various personalities attached to their respective industries paid their final respects to the late Bandula Jayasekera.
Bandula Jayasekara, born on December 29, 1960, was a distinguished past pupil of Trinity College Kandy.
He pursued his higher education in Mass Media at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi and was Sri Lanka's proud flag bearer in Canada, the US and Australia.
The late Mr Jayasekara served as the Chief Editor of Daily News and a columnist at the Island newspaper.
His love for the people was strengthened further, as he joined the Sirasa media network in the latter part of his career.
Dear Bandula Jayasekara, you were a voice for the voiceless and a fearless broadcaster.
