G. C. E. O/Level exam begins; special arrangements to combat COVID

Colombo (News 1st); The G. C. E. Ordinary Level examination got underway on Monday (01) across 4513 examination centers across the island.

Commissioner General of Examinations Sanath B. Pujitha speaking to News 1st said the O/L examination will take place until the 10th of March. 622,351 private candidates and school students will be sitting for the examination this year. In order to combat any spread of the coronavirus, two special examination centers are in operation across each district in the country, said the Commissioner-General of Examinations. He urged students sitting for the examination to be present at their respective examination centers by 07:45 AM, 45 minutes ahead of the schedule in order to avoid any inconveniences. Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said Sri Lanka Police will assist the health & education authorities to ensure the G. C. E. Ordinary Level examinations are carried out smoothly. In addition, Sri Lanka Police will take strict action with regard to sound pollution during the period of the examination causing disturbance to the students, close to examination centers.
