Locals who visited Sigiriya tested COVID positive

Colombo (News 1st); 22 people in the Bondupitiya village in Mathugama have tested positive for COVID-19.

The local health officer speaking to reporters said the group had visited Sigiriya and Dambulla on the 14th of January. Incidentally, tourists from Ukraine also visited Sigiriya in recent weeks. Former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga was accompanying the Ukrainian tourists, and his conduct was widely criticized as he failed to follow to the necessary health guidelines.
