450 PRISONERS TO HAVE COMMUTED SENTENCES

State Minister of Prison Management & Prisoners' Rehabilitation Lohan Ratwatte said the list of names was forwarded to the President for approval.

Once the President gives approval, the sentences of the said prisoners would be commuted, he added.

The State Minister said prisoners who are on death row would have their sentences commuted to life in prison.

In addition, those serving life sentences would have their sentences commuted to 20 years in prison.

State Minister of Prison Management & Prisoners' Rehabilitation Lohan Ratwatte said the sentences would be commuted as per the 04 year review program, which is being implemented for the first time in 22 years.
