Cabinet approves to increase number of national schools to 1000

Colombo (News 1st); Cabinet approval was granted to implement an appropriate program to establish 1000 new National Schools covering all Divisional Secretariats.
Accordingly, the program is planned to be implemented in three phases.
Phase 01 - Develop one selected Provincial Council school as a National School in each of the 123 Divisional Secretariats in which there are no National Schools.
Phase 02 - Upgrade 673 schools selected on the basis of identified criteria as national schools.
Phase 03 - Further develop the existing 373 National Schools under the third phase.
