Colombo (News 1st); United National Party representatives have requested for party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe to be appointed to the National List MP seat in Parliament, said Ex-MP Arjuna Ranatunga on Monday (23).
He said it was Former MP Navin Dissanayake who made the proposal last week, adding he too supported the call for Ranil Wickremesinghe to be appointed to the National List MP seat, the only seat secured by the United National Party in Parliament.
Arjuna Ranatunga said it is paramount for a leader with a vision to be in Parliament at a time the country is facing a crisis and all the UNP representatives signed a request letter and handed it over to Ranil Wickremesinghe.
'A decision will be reached next week,' said Arjuna Ranatunga also noting the call was for Wickremesinghe to represent parliament as he is an expert in economics.
Ranil Wickremesinghe does not wish to be in Parliament, however, all the representatives urged him to enter parliament, said Arjuna Ranatunga.
