866 COVID-19 cases reported on Friday (23); Over 60% from Peliyagoda Fish Market

Colombo (News 1st); 866 COVID-19 cases were reported on Friday (23), making it the highest number of cases reported on a single day in Sri Lanka.

The Department of Government Information said 535 of these cases were reported from the Peliyagoda Fish Market.

48 cases were reported from Quarantine Facilities.

05 cases were reported from the Galle Fisheries Harbour and 20 cases were reported from the Beruwala Fisheries Harbour.

The other 257 cases reported are close contacts.

According to the Department of Government Information the total number of cases reported from the Minuwangoda Cluster is 3682.

In addition, a returnee from South Korea had also tested positive for COVID-19 while in quarantine.

Accordingly, the total number of patients in hospital receiving treatment for COVID-19 is 3495.

Sri Lanka recorded 7153 confirmed cases so far with 3644 recoveries, said the Department of Government Information
