Colombo (News 1st); The Department for Registration of Persons said its Head Office and Provincial Offices will not be open to the General Public until further notice.

A statement from the Department for Registration of Persons said the process of issuing National Identity Cards will take place via the Regional Offices set up Divisional Secretariats.

Further, those who are yet to apply for the NIC are requested to hand over their applications to the Regional Offices set up Divisional Secretariats.

Any individual who requires the National Identity Card for urgent matters, such as for examinations, interviews, and for the process of obtaining a passport, are requested to contact the Department for Registration of Persons via the following numbers.
