Colombo (News 1st); The Cabinet of Minister gave the green light for the construction of the 300 MW second integrated cyclic Liquefied Natural Gas Power Plant in Kerawalapitiya.
A statement from the Government Information Department said as a solution to the power crisis that may arise in the country in the future, it is appropriate to construct a 300 MW Liquefied Natural Gas Power Plant plant in Kerawalapitiya.
Further, the Cabinet of Ministers decided it is appropriate to build and operate this power plant using Build Own Operate Transfer (B00T) business method as an independent energy project through private investment.
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal made by the Minister of Power to select an investor following the international competitive bidding process to complete the project within a period of three years.
