Property amassed by Drug Traffickers valued over Rs. 04 Billion to be confiscated; Police

Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police said investigations revealed details of 12 properties obtained by criminals in the Western Province over the past 02 months using money amassed through illegal means.
The total area of the properties amount to 900 perches valued at over Rs. 04 Billion, said the Acting Police Spokesperson SSP Ruwan Gunasekera.
In addition, 12 Luxury Vehicles, 07 three-wheelers, and 07 motorcycles were seized by Sri Lanka Police.
The Acting Police Spokesperson said the moveable and immovable property will be confiscated as per provisions of the law adding the drug traffickers in the Western Province maintained 102 Bank Accounts which contained Rs. 96 Million and these monies will also be confiscated.
He said over the years a total of more than Rs. 2.6 Billion had passed through the bank accounts.
