Suspect arrested in Pesalai along with a stock of smuggled Turmeric

COLOMBO (News 1st): A suspect was arrested in the Thullikudirippu area along the Mannar - Talaimannar road of the Pesalai Police jurisdiction, along with a stock of illegally smuggled Turmeric. The stock of Turmeric was suspected to have been smuggled into the country from India, Sri Lanka Police said. According to Police, 862.37 kg of Turmeric was discovered while inspecting a truck traveling towards Pesalai. The arrested suspect is a resident of Puttalam, and he will be produced at the Mannar Magistrates Court today (Aug 30).
