Colombo (News 1st); Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa appointed an Archaeology Advisory Committee to assist in the protection of sites with archaeological importance and to secure heritage sites located island-wide.
The Advisory Committee is expected to provide advice to the subject minister with regard to all archaeology activity in the country as well as to provide advise and assistance for special projects as well as upgrades to sites.
A statement from the Prime Minister's Office said the Advisory Committee comprises 20 members.
