COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ceylon Electricity Board is currently conducting a study regarding the addition of the fourth generator to the Norochcholai Power Plant, according to the CEB Chairman.
"An environmental and technical study is currenty underway on the addition of a 4th generator to the Norochcholai Power Plant," Vijitha Herath, the Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board said on Tuesday (July 14).
The study is being conducted by a team consisting of officers from the Ceylon Electricity Board and the Central Environmental Authority.
According to the CEB Chairman, an in-depth study will be conducted regarding the impact the addition of a 4th generator to the Norochcholai Power Plant, may have on the area residents.
The final report compiled based on the study will be submitted within two months.
An estimated 300 megawatts will be added to the National Grid through the fourth generator of the Norochcholai Power Plant.
Accordingly, the total power capacity from the Norochcholai Power Plant is expected to be increased up to 1200 megawatts.
At present the Norochcholai Power Plant adds 900 megawatts to the National Grid.
