Technical Committee failure to meet, a reason for new COVID-19 cluster; GMOA

Colombo (News 1st); The Government Medical Officers Association warns the failure of the Technical Committee to meet for over a month to discuss matters surrounding COVID-19 is a reason for the present situation in the country.

"We raised serious concerns regarding the second wave and the opening of schools and airports in the country. We also highlighted the risk posed by permitting election meetings," said Dr. Haritha Aluthge from the GMOA adding, the technical committee which was supposed to meet and reach decisions on those matters failed to convene for more than a month.

The GMOA warned if contact tracing is not done in a proper manner the situation would grow worse adding it should be done by at least imposing travel restrictions.
