Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Elections Chief Mahinda Deshapriya said polling centers will be set up in quarantine facilities in Rajangayana for postal voting to take place.

He said this measure will be adopted in the event, the Rajanganaya Divisional Secretariat personnel need to be placed in quarantine for more than 14 days.

"Postal voting for Rajanganaya was postponed because several officers from the Rajanganaya Divisional Secretariat were placed in quarantine and not because of the pandemic," said Deshapirya on Monday(13).

He went on to note, there is no idea of postponing the elections adding if the public has any fear of COVID-19 on election day a polling center would be the safest place in the country adding the election can go ahead if measures are taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus across all areas.
