UPDATE: Former minister Rishad Bathiudeen leaves CID

*(Updates story to say the former minister has left the CID in paragraph one) COLOMBO (News1st): Former minister Rishad Bathiudeen has left the Criminal Investigation Department after recording a statement over a fraudulent land deal, police said Thursday. In January, the former minister's younger brother Rifkhan Bathiudeen had been remanded in connection to this case, which involved the illegal acquisition of a 40-acre land in Mannar. He was subsequently released. Earlier this week, police arrested two including Riyaj Badiudeen, the elder brother of the former lawmaker, in connection to last year's terrorist attacks on Easter Sunday.
