Fisheries Department constructs laboratory to detect COVID-19 patients

Colombo (News 1st) ; The Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has taken steps to construct a laboratory at the Infectious Diseases Hospital.

The Department of Fisheries said construction would be completed within the next two days. This laboratory is constructed to further expand the facilities available at IDH to detect patients who test positive for COVID-19. Three shipping containers will be used for this purpose and the total cost to complete the laboratory is 5.5 Million Rupees. Director General of the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Prasanna Ginige said the cost for construction is covered by the Department and donations made by the Welfare Society of the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources as well as exporters.
