Samagi Jana Balawegaya office declared open

Colombo (News 1st) - The new office of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) was declared open this morning by the leader of the SJB Sajith Premadasa. A number of former UNP members and party leaders who had joined the SJB were also present at the occasion. Following religious observances, Sajith Premadasa addressed the gathering. Premadasa noted that this was the beginning of a massive democratic and people-friendly revolution in the country. He also revealed that prior to the launch event of the SJB, he and the party's general secretary Ranjith Maddumabanara traveled to UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe's residence to personally invite him to the event. He noted that the invitation that he extended remains open adding that the doors of the SJB will be open for everyone. He reassured local politicians to join the SJB without any fear and that he would take the responsibility of protecting them from prosecution. Ranjith Maddumabandara speaking at the event noted that the SJB was a collection of the strongest parties in the country, headed by the Deputy Leader of the UNP. He added that this was created with the approval of the Working Committee of the UNP. "We will elect Sajith Premadasa as the Prime Minister of the country on the 25th of April," Maddumabandara stated.
