COLOMBO (News 1st):- Residents of Udawalawe are calling on authorities to construct a drain instead of fences to prevent wild elephants from entering the Colombo - Monaragala main road. Residents claim that wild elephants enter the road after destroying the fence which had been set-up on the border of the forest near the Udawalawe main road. The people have suggested two alternatives to prevent the loss of lives due to this issue. Residents urge for a long-term solution to the problem The area residents claim that with the drainage system, that it is not just animals but all people engaging in illegal activities will also not be able to come to their side by any means.
