Sajith Premadasa taps Maddumabandara for General Secretary of new movement

Colombo (News 1st) - Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa announced today (Feb 3) that Ranjith Madduma Bandara will be appointed as the General Secretary of the New Political Movement led by him. Opposition Leader met with the electoral organizers of the United National Front at the Parliamentary Complex this evening. The meeting was attended by Former Provincial Councillors as well. Speaking at the event, Premadasa noted that there were a number of stories planted in newspapers are part of deals being made in politics. He noted that there are ongoing deals to create uncertainty in the party. While noting that he had a limited time to prepare for the Presidential election, attempting to do the same for the MPs and people who are seeking nominations could be considered a great insult. MP Ranjith Maddumabandara speaking to reporters outside Parliament noted that the new political movement would be registered in the coming days. He also denied that there was any competition for the post of General Secretary.
