President, PM, And Opposition Leader Extend New Year Greetings

COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has called on the public to unite in building a new beginning for the nation through the ongoing national program aimed at bringing about economic, social, and political transformation.

In his Sinhala and Tamil New Year message, the President invited the people to work together in unity towards a common goal to uplift the country and its people.

He emphasized that the true meaning of New Year traditions lies in renewing one’s life and creating a society free from regressive thinking and attitudes. The President added that this moment marks a real opportunity for a fresh start.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, in her New Year message, wished the Sri Lankan people a transformation filled with new energy, unity, and prosperity for a better future.

She urged citizens to begin the New Year with respect, peace, and compassion within their communities.

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, also issuing a New Year message, said that the nation faces both familiar and new challenges in the coming year. He stated that it is the collective responsibility of all to address these challenges and move the country forward.
