35,000 Police Officers Deployed For New Year Security And Traffic

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Police say a special security and traffic program has been implemented in areas where large public gatherings are expected during the New Year period.

The program is in place for various New Year-related events, including festivals, musical events, and carnivals.

A total of 6,000 police officers have been deployed to ensure public safety in areas such as Colombo Fort, Pettah, Borella, Kirulapone, and Bambalapitiya, as well as at religious sites.

In total, more than 35,000 police officers have been deployed across the country to provide security and manage traffic during the festive season.
