UNP Leadership: Final decision on Thursday

Colombo (News 1st): Will the final decision be taken on Thursday regarding the UNP leadership? The General Secretary of the party Akila Viraj Kariywasam made these remarks:

"It has been decided to discuss this matter on Thursday. A final decision will be reached on the same day or on another day."

Meanwhile, the convener of the National People's Council Chameera Perera noted that currently there is no such thing called the UNP, it is now Ranil Wickremesinghe's party. He went onto note:

"There was something called the UNP before, we saw there were many leaders, if Ranil Wickremesinghe wants to hold a conference, we have seen in the past where he will even call the ruling party MPs and hold a conference. There is a public mandate of 55 to 60 in this democratic camp. They need a political leader now. Only Sajith Premadasa can give revolutionized political leadership. There's nothing Ranil Wickremesinghe can do now. He has no duties. The ruling party is now doing what he is supposed to do. A broader political front is needed to strengthen their camp. Ranil Wickremesinghe has never acted in a democratic manner. He has only worked with deals. If this camp is to move forward, the trojan horse named Ranil Wickremesinghe should be put out of this democratic camp."
