“Bond scam carried out on Mahendran's instructions”: Udaya Gammanpila

Colombo (News 1st): The Pivithuru Hela Urumaya convened a media briefing at the party headquarters today (January 14). Speaking at the briefing Leader of the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya Udaya Gammanpila noted that with regard to the Police investigations into the bond scam, all the relevant officials have been questioned in this regard. He said that based on the information they have received, it has been revealed that the bond scam was carried out upon the instructions of Arjuna Mahendran. He questioned; Did anyone instruct Arjuna Mahendran? However, according to him, this question can only be answered, by interrogating Arjuna Mahendran himself and this is why the UNP sent Arjuna Mahendran overseas, without the knowledge of anyone. Gammanpila believes that the Central Bank bond scam is the brainchild of Ranil Wickremesinghe. He noted that if they file cases against other individuals, without naming Ranil Wickremesinghe and Arjuna Mahendran as the defendants, the general public will point their fingers at them, and accuse them of only punishing the officials and not the politicians. He noted that the public will claim there is some sort of a deal between Mahinda Rajapaksa and Ranil Wickremesinghe.
