COLOMBO (News 1st) - The motion filed requesting permission to present reasons to grant bail for the former chairman of the State Pharmaceutical Corporation, Rumy Mohamed, was rejected today (January 02) by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne.
It was rejected as the respondents to the motion, the Attorney General and the Criminal Investigations Department were not present at court.
The Magistrate instructed the lawyers of the accused to present the motion next Monday.
The former Chairman of the State Pharmaceutical Corporation was arrested for allegedly paying Rs 1mn each to the suspects who joined former Minister Rajitha Senaratne for the controversial white van media briefing.
