Ranil Wickremesinghe to step down from UNP leadership-Akila Viraj

COLOMBO(News 1st) - General Secretary of the UNP Akila Viraj Kariyawasam noted that the leader of the party intends to step down from his duties and work together for the welfare of the party. Kariyawasam further added that the leader of the party is willing to work together with other party leaders. When questioned by journalists whether Ranil Wickremesinghe plans to step down from the position of leader, Kariyawasam responded Ranil Wickremesinghe has no intention of remaining in the leadership. Kariyawasam added that Wickremesinghe would remain in power until a proper plan is implemented for the future of the UNP.
