Colombo (News 1st): The Meteorology Department noted that very heavy falls about 200 mm are likely at some places in Western, Southern and Sabaragamuwa provinces. It added that heavy falls of about 100-150 mm are likely at some places in North-western and Central provinces as well.
Further, it was noted that the sea area extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and the sea area extending from Puttalam to Mullaitivu via Mannar and Kankasanturai can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 50-55 kmph at times.
The Met Department added that temporarily strong gusty winds up to 70-80 kmph and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. Naval and fishing communities have been requested to be vigilant in this regards.
