65-year-old falls victim to an elephant attack

Colombo (News 1st): One person was killed in a wild elephant attack in Indigasthota, Thanthrimale area in Anuradhapura.  The victim aged 65-year-old was attacked in front of his house and passed away on the spot. According to area residents, the presence of wild elephants has increased in Kadamaleliya as paddy has been stored in the houses in the area. These wild elephants had attacked and damaged a number of houses in the area yesterday. Meanwhile, the corpse of an elephant was found in Thanthirimale, Anuradhapura. The wildlife officers in Thanthrimale inspected the corpse and the cause of death has not yet been identified. The post mortem examination is due to be conducted today (August 14).
