Money laundering behind the garbage scam? - MP Kanaka Herath

COLOMBO (News 1st): Calling for an immediate investigation as to whether money was laundered behind the garbage scam, member of the opposition, UPFA MP Kanaka Herath said that there is a doubt whether the income received by Hayleys or Dhammika Perera through the garbage scam remained in the country. He further said that the country is used as a garbage dump simply with the motive of earning an income, even if it means that the income does not remain in the country or even if the money is not deposited in this particular company. The MP added that therefore they request the CBSL to act in this regard, in accordance with the money laundering act.
