Russia interested in developing military cooperation with Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st): Speaking to the Sri Lankan military officials, the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation said Russia is interested in developing military cooperation with Sri Lanka. The meeting was held to discuss issues related to combatting international terrorism in the region and on other security challenges. Russian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov noted that Sri Lanka is a friendly state and Russia’s reliable partner in South Asia. While thanking the Sri Lankan Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne for attending the International Military Technical Forum in Moscow, the Russian Chief said that he is confident that the meeting will contribute to the strengthening of friendly relations between the armed forces of the two countries.
