COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Colombo Chief Magistrate rejected a request made by defense counsel in the case filed against former Min. Johnston Fernando to dismiss the matter without taking it for consideration. The court ordered the case to be taken up for examination on the 09th of August.
The case was filed by the Bribery Commission against Johnston Fernando, former Sathosa Chairman Eraj Fernando and its Former Operations Director Mohideen Kaja Mohideen Zahir.
The accused are charged with allegedly removing 153 Sathosa employees from their duties between 2010 and 2015 and assigning them for political campaigns resulting in a loss of Rs 40mn to the state.
