Colombo (News 1st): The Attorney General has directed the Acting IGP to cause a comprehensive criminal investigation, to be conducted by the CID, against the former Defence Secretary, the State Intelligence Chief, the Commanding Officer of the STF and the Senior DIG of the Western Province.
Attorney General Dappula De Livera having considered the two interim reports and recommendations of the board of inquiry appointed by the President to probe the April 21st attacks directed the Acting IGP to carry out a comprehensive criminal investigation against the IGP as well. This was confirmed by State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne, the Co-ordinating Officer to the Attorney General
Further, the AG directed the Acting IGP to refer the matter to the National Police Commission, in order for disciplinary action be taken against the Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province, the Commanding Officer of the Special Task Force and the Chief of State intelligence for their lapses in duty.
