COLOMBO (News 1st): The police recorded a statement from General Secretary of the UPFA MP Dayasiri Jayasekara over the incident that transpired in Kuliyapitiya recently.
MP Dayasiri Jayasekara arrived at the office of the DIG In Charge of the Colombo Division at 9.45 am and later left the premises after recording a statement for over three hours. MP Jayasekara speaking to the media later said that the reports prevailing that he had tried to bail out six employees are completely wrong. He continued to say that if they were not released that there was a high chance of the entire police station being destroyed and that they were handed over to the Bingiriya police upon request of the police OIC.
He claimed that the police station had decided to grant bail to all of them by the time he arrived at the police station and added that the suspects were handcuffed even when they were produced before the Bingiriya magistrate.
In response to an inquiry made by a journalist on why the law is not enforced on individuals like Minister Rishard Bathiudeen just like for everyone else, the parliamentarian responded that these kinds of people should firstly provide support to the police in order to be released from such allegations.
