Fognini upsets Zverev to reach Monte Carlo quarter-finals

Reuters -   Italy's Fabio Fognini upset world number three Alexander Zverev in straight sets to reach the quarter-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters on Thursday (April 18). The 31-year-old Italian, who is ranked 18th in the world, defeated the German 7-6 (8-6) 6-1. Third seed Zverev, who lives in Monte Carlo, reached the semi-finals of his 'home' event a year ago but has endured a difficult 2019 season. After finishing runner-up to Australian Nick Kyrgios in Acapulco, Zverev has suffered early exits at Indian Wells, Miami and Marrakech.
