Colombo (News 1st): The National Organizer of the All Ceylon Farmers Federation, Namal Karunaratne convening a media briefing in Dambulla yesterday (March 29) noted that on April 17th of 2017, the secretary of the Department of Foreign resources had ordered that the balance payments of the cows that were imported be made to the company named Vilate.
He noted that this was informed in writing and the letter was sent on May 9th, but on May 8th, a sum of Rs. 1.310 billion was paid to the company under the direction of Director General of the Department of Foreign resources.
Karunaratne added that for 10 months we have been paying 10% interest for this amount of money, despite this amount being paid, not one cow has been brought to the country. He noted that they should make the 94 MPs who haven't even passed their A/Levels to sit for their O/L exam again, but it can't be assured that it will make things better.
We would like to ask the Secretary to the Ministry who reached into agreements with an Australian firm to import heifers to the country, squandering the money of the general public and rendering dairy farmers helpless.
Where are the heifers? If not, where is the hard earned money of our people?
Is it not just that you provide answers to the country?
