COLOMBO (News 1st) - Multiple state of the art social media apps such as Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram appear to partially function for a number of users around the globe today(March 14). Although it is accessible to both Instagram and Facebook platforms some services appear to have a delay and infinite loading screens. Users have reported issues with sending messages on Messenger, posting to the feed on all Facebook products and accessing other features on Facebook.com, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Even Facebook-owned Oculus VR is experiencing issues related to the outage.

Earlier today (March 14), WhatsApp appeared to be fine for a majority of people, yet users from Paraguay, India, Bangladesh, Argentina noted to begin experience several issues with sending messages later. Downdetector; a site which monitors technology collapses, indicates that those in Brazil were experiencing the most severe outages.

Facebook twitter account made a statement noting that they are aware of the issue and working on to resolve the matter and added that it is not the result of a DDoS( distributed denial-of-service ) attack.
