Farmers in Ampara plagued by low quality seeds

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Farmers in Ampara who had their crops destroyed by the Sena caterpillar menace are yet again facing another issue after planting seeds of low quality. The farmers complain that the seeds were purchased after spending over Rs. 7,000 from the private sector. The farmers call for compensation to be paid to them over the loss incurred. When News1st made an inquiry from the Department of Agriculture, its Director General M. W. Weerakoon said that measures will be taken to notify the agricultural officers of the area.
