85 arrested in Hingurakgoda Facebook party released on bail

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The 85 youth who were arrested last night (February 02) for the possession of various narcotics at a party held in a hotel in Hingurakgoda have been released on bail. The manager of the hotel and four others were remanded till the 06th of Februarybya Acting Magistrate of Hingurakgoda Shiranthi Warallagama. The said party that was held at a hotel in Minneriya was reportedly organized through Facebook. Over 200 youth from Galle, Matara, Colombo, Nuwara Eliya, and Kandy had arrived in Minneriya last afternoon (February 02) to attend the party with an entrance ticket of Rs. 2500. The party had begun at around 10.00 pm last night (February 02). After about an hour a team of 43 police officials from several police stations had raided the hotel premises based on a tipoff that many illegal narcotics were used in the party. The police were able to discover 89 individuals with various types of narcotics in their possession. The arrested group included six women. The Police further said that the seized narcotics included Kerala Ganja, Abin, and various other illicit narcotic tablets. The largest stock of narcotics was discovered in possession of the six women.
